Here is good news for coffee lovers. Based on a research in Stockholm, drinking coffee could decrease liver cancer risk. “Nowadays, the impact of coffee consumption to protect our liver is increasingly more and more. Moreover, liver disease has increased within 2 last decades,” said Susanna C. Larsson, researcher of Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. Based on some research have been known that there is an opposite relationship between coffee consumption and liver’s enzyme level in which indicates chronic liver disease and cirrhosis risks.


The scientists have done meta analysis to find out the relationship between coffee consumption and liver cancer risk. That meta analysis covered 11 researches which involved 2260 liver cancer patients and 239146 health people as control group. The result was by drinking 2 cups of coffee daily would reduce 43 percents the risk of liver cancer. “This protection effect of coffee consumption against liver cancer is biologically makes sense,” told Larsson and Wolk in the same manner as Gastroenterology Medical Journal reported. “Coffee contains many antioxidants, such as chlorogenic acid which able to compete with oxidative stress,” said them. That substance can prevent the formation of carcinogens (the agent of cancer).
