ABSTRACT
PHYSICAL STABILITY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF SUNSCREEN PRODUCT CONTAINING OXYBENZONE AND OCTYL METHOXYCINNAMATE IN CARBOMER 940 GEL WITH THE ADDITION OF GLYCOLIC ACID
The aim of this research is to know the effect of glycolic acid addition with the concentration of 8, 10, and 12% w/w on physical stability and effectiveness of sunscreen product containing oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate (2 : 7% w/w) in carbomer 940 gel. The physical stability test is done by observing physical appearance, pH, and spreading ability on the 2nd, 7th, 14th, 30th, and 60th day after the product is made; while effectiveness test is done by in vitro determination of SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value with spectrophotometric method. The result of the physical stability test showed that glycolic acid addition affects the physical appearance (consistency) of sunscreen product, but pH and spreading ability are relatively stable during the storage; while effectiveness test showed that the addition of glycolic acid has an effect on SPF value of sunscreen product. Diabetes Ups Colorectal Cancer Risk for Women
According to new research, diabetic women have a 50% higher risk of developing colon or rectum cancer compared to women who do not have diabetes. Researchers speculate that the elevation in rates of insulin may promote the risk of these cancers by contributing to new blood vessel growth allowing cells (including tumor cells) to grow faster. The study was presented at the American Association for Cancer Research’s Sixth Annual International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research.

f you really love to eat “sate” or steak, you better reduce your consume intensity immediately. An expert from Davis, cancer center of University of California, USA, said that processing meat by baking or roasting it would create heterocyclic amines (HCAs) compound which could cause cancer. That compound created when heat in amino acid meets creatinin in animal’s muscles. The longer process duration and the higher temperature produce many HCAs.
