Google have announced encyclopedia project KNOL several days before. Finally, the gigantic internet service, Google will go directly head to head againts Wikipedia .

Accordding to their official blog, Google state the existence of online encyclopedia project which is named KNOL. At that momment, several experts with specific ability from many field have been invited to write article for KNOL. In the next time, KNOL will be created open for public, just looks like Wikipedia.

One different thing between KNOL from the other content in Wikipedia is Knol focus on the author article writer. “We believe, If the users know who is the writer of article will help the users to use the content better solution,” said Udi Manber, Vice President Engineering Google, quoted from Google official blog, Saturday 15th December 2007.

KNOL will be an open site. Google will provide the content and the software to create the articles, the writers only thinking about their writting. Google even stated no editorial change at all in the KNOL. One more thing that Google will provide is advertising in the KNOL page which will be shared with the writer. What kind of advertising? Of course the famous Google Adsense advertising system. It is another wonderful option for newbie adsense publisher (who have brilliant ide on article but do not know anything about website).

KNOL is a term created by Google which means ‘One Unit Knowledge‘. KNOL is also used to refer to the one article that is created on KNOL project.
